CARJACKING/ KIDNAPPING SUSPECT APPREHENDED

On January 14, 2009 at approximately 11:50 P.M., an unknown suspect approached the victim as he was sitting inside of his vehicle located at the Griffith Shell Station (1262 Government Street) and pointed a gun at him.

The subject threatened to shoot the victim if he attempted to escape. The subject then opened the front passenger door to the victim's vehicle, and forced him to drive from the service station at gunpoint.

The suspect forced the victim to drive him to various locations, while making demands for his property with the use of the handgun. The suspect made the victim exit the vehicle in the area of Woodlawn Apartments off of Dauphin Island Parkway and drove off in the vehicle as the victim fled away on foot.

Investigation by Mobile Police revealed the identity of Tyvorius Key, 1/10/1989 (20) as the suspect that committed this offense.

On January 26, 2009, Second Precinct CAT detail officers (Crime Apprehension Team) located Key. He was brought into headquarters and subsequently charged with Robbery First Degree and Kidnapping Second Degree. Key was also booked on three other active felony warrants for Assault First Degree, Robbery First Degree, and Discharging a Firearm Into an Occupied Building/ Vehicle.
