FURNISHING ALCOHOL TO MINORS

On October 8, 2008 Mobile Police Department continued its fight against underage drinking by conducting another Underage Drinking Compliance Check. This is the third check in the past two weeks. This time, eight businesses were checked and half of them were in compliance with the law.

The businesses in compliance were:

Highway 98 Package Store, located at 3208 Moffett Rd.

Clark Oil Exxon, located at 4063 Moffett Rd.

Circle K, located at 7790 Moffett Rd.

Shell Food Mart, located at 7801 Moffett Rd.

The businesses NOT in compliance were:

Mini Mart, located at 4074 Moffett Rd.

Moffett Road Liquor, located at 4126 Moffett Rd.

Wolf Ridge Food Mart, located at 4126 Moffett Rd.

Circle K, located at 5601 Moffett Rd.

An employee at each of the first three businesses not in compliance did not check the underage buyer's identification. The employee at the Circle K checked the underage buyer's identification but sold the alcohol anyway. Warrants will be signed against these employees tomorrow for Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor. These compliance checks will continue as the Department strives for all businesses to comply with the law.
