GREAT GRADUATION

On December 10, 2008, the Mobile Police Department will celebrate the graduation of one hundred sixth graders tutored by police on choices about drugs and gangs.
The graduation celebrations will be held at Denton Middle School located at 3800 Pleasant Valley Road at 10:30 A.M.
The GREAT program is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, the GREAT program places law enforcement officers into local classroom to talk about the consequences of critical decisions that challenge today's youths. GREAT is an acronym for Gang Resistance Education and Training. All the Mobile Police officers teaching the program have attended a two week long training in the curriculum. The program started in 2001.
Marshall Freeman is a nineteen-year veteran with the Mobile Police Department and the instructor at Denton Middle School. He has been an instructor at Chestang Middle School for three and a half years. The Mobile Police Department has two additional instructors one at Mae Eanes Middle School and Mobile County Training School.
A pizza party ceremony for Denton's Middle School graduates and guest is scheduled immediately after the graduation in the school's gymnasium.
