On Thursday, March 12, 2020 at approximately 5:20 p.m., police responded to the area of Cedar Pointe Road at Dauphin Island Parkway in reference to the report of one shot. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who had been shot. The victim was transported to the hospital where he died as a result of his injury.
The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Jeffery Himes.
Through the course of the investigation, investigators located the suspect involved and were able to detain him. The investigation is ongoing.
UPDATE 7/1/20: A grand jury reviewed this case and returned an indictment for murder. On July 1, 2020, the U.S. Marshals located and arrested John David Buck.
