File Number: Labor Day Safety Tips

Mobile Police would like for everyone to have a safe Labor Day Weekend.

• Secure important belongings inside of vehicles and out of view at events.
• Parents should place an identity card in their child's pocket in the event they become separated from one another. The card should provide the name of the child, address, telephone contact numbers and the name of a relative.
• Dress appropriately for hot weather.
• A city ordinance strictly forbids glass containers in public.
• Underage drinking will be strictly enforced.
• Drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated.
• If swimming, follow all water safety rules.
• While traveling, obey all traffic laws.
• The Move Over Law is in place. The law states that on a four lane highway when officers are conducting business on the shoulder of the road, drivers must attempt to move to the inside lane. If not possible, drivers must slow to 15 MPH under the posted speed limit.
• Do not drink and drive.
• If you need police assistance call the Police Department at 208-7211 or dial 911.
