MAN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER AND BURGLARY FIRST DEGREE

On Sunday, January 11, 2009 at approximately 4:43 P.M. John Aaron Powell (W/M) went to the mother of his child's residence located in the 7300 block of Bellingrath Road (Bellingrath Trailer Park) to get the child.

Upon Powell's arrival, he unlawfully forced his way into the residence. Powell was confronted by the victim (W/M) and new boyfriend of Powell's child's mother. A struggle ensued between Powell and the victim. During the struggle, Powell pulled out a black lock blade knife and stabbed the victim multiple times about his body.

The victim was transported by South Flight to the University of South Alabama Medical Center where he is listed in fair condition.

John Powell was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder and Burglary First Degree.
