Mobile Police Announce March Officer of the Month

The Mobile Police Department would like to extend an open invitation to the media for the monthly Officer of the Month Luncheon to be held on Tuesday April 10, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, located at 3051 Pleasant Valley Road. The Officer of the Month program is presented by the Optimist Club of Mobile.

Officer Aaron Tucker, who has served as a Mobile police officer since July 2011, currently serves in the First Precinct and will be awarded the honor for his exceptional performance during the month of March.

The following are specific examples of the incidents that earned Officer Tucker the distinction of Officer of the Month:

On March 1, 2012, Officer Tucker conducted a traffic stop on Harbor Drive and Darwood Drive. While investigating the driver, Officer Tucker located a loaded handgun in the driver's possession. The arrested suspect was later found to be in possession of several bags of marijuana and more charges were added.

On March 6, 2012 Officer Tucker, while patrolling the area of Navco Road and McVay Drive, initiated a traffic stop on a driver not wearing a seatbelt. After the driver refused to stop, Officer tucker pursued the driver to Gimon Circle North where the three occupants of the vehicle left the vehicle and ran to a creek and wooded area. The three suspects were later apprehended and one of the men was identified as a wanted homicide suspect in Prichard Alabama. Drugs and guns were located in the vehicle and the three subjects were all arrested.

Through the month of March Officer conducted several more traffic stops which resulted in the seizing of many more illegal drugs and guns.

During the month of March, Officer Tucker amassed 11 felony and 15 misdemeanor arrests and issued 38 citations. He responded to 51 calls for service and backed 57 calls. Officer Tuckers' dedication to duty and attention to detail has brought credit upon himself and the Mobile Police Department.
