The Mobile Police Department wants everyone to have a safe Fourth of July
• Secure important belongings inside of vehicles and out of view at events.
• It is not permitted to burn any items in Mobile County due to dry conditions.
• While at an event, an identity card should be placed in a child's pocket to help police if they become separated from a parent or guardian. The card should provide the name of the child, address, telephone contact numbers and the name of a relative.
• Adults are encouraged to establish a post-event meeting place for family and friends if groups become separated.
• Wear light clothing, comfortable shoes, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
• Drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated.
• If swimming, follow all water safety rules. Children should be accompanied by adults at all time while swimming.
• While traveling, obey all traffic laws.
• Discharging firearms in the city limits is illegal.
• Discharging or shooting fireworks in the city limits is illegal.
• Do not drink and drive.
• Children under the age of 16 are required to wear helmets while operating a bicycle on public roadways.
