Mobile Police Investigate a Homicide on Duval Street

On May 2, 2011 at approximately 10:15 p.m. Mobile Police responded to a report of a man shot in the 1700 block of Duval Street. Upon the officers' arrival, they found a male with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the University of South Alabama Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Preliminary results of the investigation revealed the deceased man has been identified as 62 year old William Willet from Mobile. Investigators have determined that the suspect was committing a robbery when he shot the victim and left the scene in the victim's 1989 Toyota Corolla.
