Mobile Police Investigate a Homicide on Saint Francis Street

On December 5, 2010 at approximately 4:00 a.m. Mobile Police responded to a report of people being disorderly in the area of Saint Francis and Claiborne Streets. Upon the officer's arrival they discovered a 20 year old shot in the leg with non life threatening injuries, and discovered a man had left the scene by private vehicle with a gunshot wound to his head. Police responded to Mobile Infirmary Medical Center and discovered the man had died from his injuries.

Preliminary results of the investigation reveal the deceased man has been identified as 21 year old Prentiss Bendolph. The man with the gunshot wound to his legs was transported to the University of South Alabama Medical Center by Mobile Fire and Rescue where he was treated and released.
