Mobile Police Investigate a Traffic Fatality on Dauphin Street

On March 25, 2011 at approximately 7:37 p.m. Mobile Police responded to Dauphin Street at Ashley Drive South for a report of a male struck by a vehicle. Upon the officers' arrival they found an adult male had been struck by a vehicle. Mobile Fire Department responded and transported the victim to the University of South Alabama Medical Center where he later died.

Preliminary results of the investigation reveal the male victim has been identified as 74 year old John Leonard Donnelly. Detectives have determined that Donnelly was crossing Dauphin Street when he was struck by a Mitsubishi Outlander. Speed, alcohol, and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
