Mobile Police Traffic Homicide Investigators are investigating two traffic fatalities from Saturday and Sunday mornings.

On Saturday September 17, 2011 at 2:33 a.m. officers responded to University Boulevard just south of Bear Fork Road for a single vehicle traffic crash. Upon arrival, officers found 36 year old Hekema X Lane from Eight Mile was not wearing a seatbelt when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a culvert. Mr. Lane was pronounced dead on the scene. Speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

On Sunday September 18, 2011 at 4:20 a.m. officers responded to a single vehicle crash at the Interstate 10 and Interstate 65 interchange. Upon arrival officers found 38 year old Christopher Michael Hannah from Mobile had struck the guardrail on north bound Interstate 65 and his vehicle flipped over the rail and landed on the west bound lanes of Interstate 10. Christopher Hannah was pronounced dead on the scene. Detectives have determined that speed was a factor in the crash.
