Mobile Police Investigate Justifiable Homicide on Greenpark Drive

On January 25, 2014, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Mobile police responded to a burglary in progress at the 300 block of Greenpark Drive. Upon arrival, officers found one person shot inside the residence. The 42 year-old male subject was transported to USA Medical Center where he died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The investigation revealed the homeowner heard someone trying to break in his home by kicking the door and yelling to the victim. The homeowner armed himself with a gun and told the subject to leave. The subject continued kicking the door until he made entry into the residence. At that time, the homeowner shot the subject several times.

This case is being investigated as a justifiable homicide and charges are not expected against the victim homeowner. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Mobile Police at (251) 208-7211.

Identity of the deceased is pending family notification.
