Mobile Police Investigate Traffic Fatality

On April 3, 2014, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Mobile Police responded to a single-vehicle crash with injury on westbound Airport Boulevard between Hillcrest and Foreman Roads. Traffic Homicide investigators discovered a sedan was traveling westbound on Airport Boulevard when the vehicle struck a curb and a light pole then overturned.

Mobile Fire Rescue responded and the driver, 26 year-old Jonas Washington, Jr. of Mobile, was pronounced dead on the scene.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash although speed is believed to be a contributing circumstance. Traffic Homicide Investigators will continue their analysis.
