Mobile Police Investigate Traffic Fatality

On February 21, 2014, at approximately 3:20 a.m., Mobile Police responded to a crash with injuries on Airport Boulevard at Ridgefield Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a privately owned trash truck was stopped in the outside lane of westbound Airport Boulevard at Ridgefield Road when it was struck from the rear by a sedan. The 22 year-old female driver of the sedan was transported to Providence Hospital where she died from her injuries.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash, although speed and lack of seat belt are believed to be the prime contributing circumstances. Traffic Homicide Investigators will continue their analysis.
