Mobile Police Investigating Homicide in the 2400 block of Morningside Drive

On Friday, June 03, 2016, at approximately 5:05 p.m. officers responded to the 2400 block of Morningside Drive for a report of Two Shot. Officers located a 23 year old male subject, in front of the residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and Xavier Jones, 31, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Both subjects were transported to a local hospital where Jones was pronounced dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigation revealed the cousins had a verbal argument over the telephone prior to the shooting. Following the argument, Jones came to the residence and shot his cousin multiple times. The cousin then shot Jones once in the chest.

The case will be presented to a Mobile County Grand Jury.
