Mobile Police Make Charges on East Drive Robbery, Burglary, Sexual Abuse

On April 24, 2014, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Mobile Police responded to the 100 block of East Drive for a report of a home invasion. The female victim stated she answered the door at which point a male suspect forced his way inside at gunpoint. The suspect took a cell phone, cash and electronics.

During the time the suspect was inside the residence, he struck the victim in the face numerous times and made unwanted sexual contact.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed 24 year-old Jawaun Maurice Dawson was the subject responsible for these crimes. Dawson, who is currently in Metro Jail for a sex crime on the campus of the University of South Alabama, has been charged with Robbery First Degree, Burglary First Degree, Sexual Abuse First Degree and Attempt Sodomy First Degree.
