MOBILE POLICE MAKE TRAFFICKING COCAINE ARRESTS

On Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at approximately 3:30 A.M., Mobile Police conducted a traffic stop of a white 1996 Chevrolet Camaro in the area of Travis Road and Whitehall Drive. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Alexander Ross (33) was apprehended on the scene. Two other occupants of the vehicle were initially able to elude officers on foot. Police discovered the suspects to be in possession approximately 496 grams of cocaine (about 1.09 pounds), illegal Loratab pills, and digital scales as a result of the traffic stop. Narcotic Investigators were notified and responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.

Investigation later revealed the identity of the two suspects that initially fled from police during the earlier traffic stop. One of the two suspects has been identified as Jermiah Ward (22). The second suspect's identity is not being released at this time pending further investigation by police. Both suspects were apprehended by police at a residence located in the 7300 block of James Street at approximately hours 1:30 P.M.

Alexander Ross has been charged with Trafficking Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Jermiah Ward has also been charged with Trafficking Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The third suspect has not been criminally charged at this time pending the continuation of the investigation by detectives. Further information will be disseminated as it becomes available.
