Mobile Police Mounted Unit Performs for Local Students

On Thursday, September 15, 2011, the Mobile Police Department's Mounted Unit put on a presentation for Cottage Hill Christian Academy students, teachers and parents at the Mounted Unit Training Facility on Virginia Street.

During the presentation, students learned about various units in the Mobile Police Department as a clumsy character, Elmer, tried his hand at policing. The presentation taught students the responsibilities held by the Tactical Response Unit, the Ranger Unit and a K-9 dog and his handler before moving on to the Mounted Unit. The Mounted Unit performed various gaits and a jump for the students.
