Mobile Police Warn the Public of Phone Scam

The Mobile Police Department has become aware of a phone scam that may affect area residents.

According to reports received by police, a caller using a phone number with a 251 area code states the contacted individual has won a prize. In order to claim the prize, the individual is instructed to submit a specific amount of money via Western Union. They are also instructed to use 2460 Government Street as their return address. This address is the location for Mobile Police Headquarters.

Anyone with information about this scam or its subjects is asked to call the Mobile Police Department at 208-7211, Crime Stoppers at 208-7000 or text to CRIMES (274637) and include the keyword CRIME 411.
