The Mobile Police Department would like to extend an open invitation to the media for the monthly Officer of the month luncheon to be held October 14, 2008, at 12:00 p.m. The luncheon will be held at the Knights of Columbus, located at 3051 Pleasant Valley Road.

Officer Robert Brent Hahlen is a three year veteran of the Mobile Police Department and is currently assigned to the First Precinct. Officer Hahlen is the officer of the Month for his exceptional performance and dedication to duty during the month of September.

On September 05, 2008, officer Hahlen responded to the Russell School located at 300 Broad Street in reference to a subject removing copper and aluminum from the Air conditioning units. Officer Hahlen responded and placed a close patrol on the location. On September 06, 2008, Officer Hahlen was performing a close patrol of the Russell School and observed a subject cutting copper tubing from one of the air conditioning Units. The subject was apprehended and admitted to both incidents.

On September 11, 2008, Officer Hahlen responded to the area of Dauphin Island Parkway in reference to two male subjects armed with a pistol and a shotgun that had just committed a robbery at the Family Dollar. Witnesses gave a description of the vehicle as well as the passengers in the vehicle. Officer Hahlen discovered the vehicle parked in front of a residence on Murray Hill Court. Officer Hahlen called for back up and detained the subjects. Due to Officer Hahlen's keen memory, he recalled a commercial robbery broadcast from earlier the same day that had a similar description of the suspects and the vehicle. Officer Hahlen recovered the shotgun, pistol, U.S. currency and the clothing that was used during the Robbery. They were all arrested for robbery First degree.

On September 16, 2008, officer Hahlen received a BOLO for a subject that had active felony warrants. Officer Hahlen obtained information as to the whereabouts of the subjects then went to a residence on Oakdale Avenue and apprehended the subject.

Officer Hahlen has made numerous quality arrests for the month of September. He answered ninety one (91) calls for service, acted as a backing unit on another fifty nine (59) calls was credited with seventeen (17) felony arrest, eighteen (18) misdemeanor arrest, and wrote seventeen (17) traffic citations.
