Police Apprehend Suspect in Vehicle Theft with Kids Inside

On November 4, 2009 at approximately 3:30 PM, Mobile Police responded to a report of a vehicle theft at Discount Cell Phone located at 5398 Hwy 90. During the incident the victim advised police that she entered the business leaving her 11 month and 2 year old children inside of the vehicle. She advised that she was not in the store for five minutes when she observed an unknown subject driving off in her vehicle with the children inside.

Officers canvassed the area of the incident and were able to locate the victim's vehicle approximately thirty minutes later at the intersection of Hermitage Avenue and Andrew Road. Both children were discovered safe and secure inside the vehicle and were released along with the vehicle back to the mother.

On November 5, 2009 at approximately 10:00 AM, Second Precinct Investigators were alerted via an anonymous tip of the identity of the suspect that stole the victim's vehicle. Police were able to apprehend suspect Mario Brown (25) and subsequently charge him with Theft of Property First Degree and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
