Police Arrest a Local Pharmacist

On January 14 Mobile Police MCSENT investigators arrested Bruce Elliot Miller, a licensed pharmacist employed by "Fred's" Department Store located on Hwy. 45 in Citronelle, AL. Mr. Miller was arrested as he was leaving Fred's and was found to be in possession of one thousand units of 10 mg hydrocodone pills and one thousand four hundred ten milliliters of codeine syrup. Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, MCSENT investigators established that Miller had been illegally possessing and distributing controlled substances and that the source of his supply was the Fred's Pharmacy.

To date investigators have determined that Mr. Miller has illegally distributed at least four thousand five hundred units of pharmaceutical controlled substances and two thousand eight hundred twenty milliliters of codeine syrup. Investigators also searched Mr. Miller's residence and discovered assorted types of pharmaceuticals. Investigators have initially charged Miller with two counts of Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances and one count of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substances.
Additionally, investigators expect to charge Miller with Theft of Property Second Degree.

The Alabama State Pharmacy Board is also participating in the investigation and have temporarily seized Miller's license pending the outcome of the investigation. The Board closed the Pharmacy at Fred's and it will not be allowed to reopen until an audit is completed by a Board Investigator. More arrest or forthcoming and possibly Federal and State charges are pending the outcome of investigation.
