Police Arrest Smash and Grab Suspects

On December 31, 2009 at approximately 2:50 AM police were monitoring the Shell Station located 7102 Cottage Hill Road, when they observed a stolen black Jeep Cherokee from the 3700 block of Dauphin Island Parkway, smash into the store and three suspects attempted to remove the ATM machine. The officers then moved to the store and after a foot chase, were able to apprehend two of the three suspects. The two suspects have been identified as 23 year old Adrian Dion Pritchett, and 23 year old Derrick Centell Myles. No injuries were reported to the clerk of the store, the officers, or the arrested suspects.

Police have been investigating these smash and grab events and placed officers in areas where they believed future events may occur. The identity if the third suspect will continue to be under investigation and the investigation will continue to determine if these suspects are responsible for the previous burglaries. These two suspects have been arrested and charged with Burglary Second Degree, Receiving Stolen Property First Degree, and Adrian Pritchett has also been charged for giving a false name to police.
