Police Investigate a Homicide on Airman Drive

On Friday March 26, 2010 at 8:45 PM Mobile Police responded to the 1200 block of Airman Drive for a report of one stabbed. Upon the officer's arrival, they found a 39 year old female suffering from several lacerations to her arm. After further investigation officer's found a 50 year old male suffering from multiple stab wounds to his chest. Both parties were transported to USA Medical Center where the 50 year old male succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Jessie L. Pope and the preliminary investigation revealed that Pope and the 39 year old female had been involved in a domestic dispute and Pope attacked and cut the female with a large kitchen knife. The female gained possession of the knife and stabbed Pope in the chest causing his death. The female is currently being treated for her injuries at the hospital, and after conferring with the District Attorney's Office it was determined that the case will be presented to the Mobile County Grand Jury for consideration.
