POLICE INVESTIGATE HUMAN REMAINS DISCOVERED AT RESIDENCE

On Tuesday May 19, 2009 at approximately 8:00 A.M. Mobile Police Department Homicide Investigators received a report of a deceased body buried at a residence located at a residence in the 2400 block of Vaughn Drive North.

Detectives, along with Investigators with the Mobile Police Department Identification/ Crime Scene Unit, the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, and members of the University of West Florida Forensic Anthropology Unit responded to the scene where specific grounds of the residence were excavated.

During the excavation of the grounds, human remains were discovered. The human remains will be taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences where further examinations will be conducted.

At this time, police are investigating this incident as a homicide. Further information will be disseminated as it becomes available.
