POLICE INVESTIGATE HUMAN REMAINS DISCOVERED AT RESIDENCE (UPDATE)

On Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at approximately 8:00 A.M., Mobile Police responded to a residence located in the 2400 block of Vaughn Drive North in reference to a report of a deceased male subject, whose identity is believed to be at this time Daniel Lee Hocutt (58) buried among the grounds of the residence.
Mobile Police Homicide and Crime Scene Investigators, along with members of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and the University of West Florida Forensic Anthropology responded to the residence to excavate the grounds in search of Daniel Hocutt's remains to corroborate the information reported to police.
After extensive search of the grounds, investigators exhumed the remains of a male corpse believed at this time that of Daniel Hocutt. The remains were transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences where further examinations will be conducted to confirm the identity of the corpse.
Preliminary investigation of the incident revealed the death of Hocutt to be the result of a homicide that occurred approximately three years prior. Further investigation revealed evidence that the decedent's wife, Sandra Waters Hocutt (58) was responsible for the death of the victim.
At approximately 9:00 P.M., Mobile Police arrested and charged Sandra Hocutt with one count of Murder. The investigation into this incident remains continuous; further information will be provided as it becomes available.
