POLICE INVESTIGATE STABBING ON ASHMOOR DRIVE

On Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at approximately 4:20 P.M., Mobile Police responded to Providence Hospital in reference to a report of an individual stabbed. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, identified as a 28 year old male with multiple stab wounds about his body. The injuries sustained by the victim are considered life threatening and he is currently in critical condition.

Homicide Investigators responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and suspect identified as 33 year old male Ryan Small were involved in an altercation at a residence located in the 7000 block of Ashmoor Drive North when Small stabbed the victim multiple times. The victim was transported to Providence Hospital following the incident. Small was subsequently interviewed by investigators and charged with Attempted Murder.

The motive surrounding this incident is still under investigation. Further information will be disseminated as it becomes available.
