ROBBERIES AT MOBILE EDUCATOR’S CREDIT UNION AND WACHOVIA BANK

On Tuesday, March 03, 2009 at approximately 1205 hours, Mobile Police responded to Mobile Educator's Credit Union located at 3150 Airport Blvd. in reference to a robbery. Upon arrival, police spoke with the victim (teller) who advised that an unknown white male subject entered the bank and presented a note demanding money. The note also implicated that the subject was armed. The (teller) refused to give the subject money and he fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

At approximately 1253 hours, Mobile Police responded to a second robbery that took place at the Wachovia Bank located at 2745 Government Blvd. The victim (teller) advised that an unknown white male subject presented her a note which demanded money and implicated that he was armed as well. The victim complied with the suspect's demands and gave him assorted US currency. The subject fled the scene in a late 1990's model green Ford Ranger.

Robbery Detectives responded to each scene and conducted investigations. Both investigations have revealed the identity of the suspect in each robbery as "Griffin Allen Thompson." Thompson is also wanted for a separate bank robbery that occurred in Sylacauga, Alabama on February 26, 2009.

Thompson was last seen occupying a 1998 Green Ford Ranger bearing AL. tag 58982AY and vehicle identification number 1FTYR14C3WPA15742. At this time, Thompson's whereabouts are unknown. Anyone with information regarding these cases is encouraged to contact authorities at (251) 208-7211.
