School burglars captured with help of Project Shield

Sep 20th, 2016

Through use of Project Shield, a public-private partnership, the Mobile Police Department was able to capture the suspects connected to the burglary at Corpus Christi Catholic School on Thursday, September 15, 2016. Police department detectives from the 4th precinct, along with the Cyber Intelligence Unit, accessed Corpus Christi Catholic SchoolÂ’s surveillance cameras pulling up the time the incident happened, which was around midnight. Footage showed two male subjects entering the school office by force, possibly using a hammer. One subject, wearing a blue baseball cap backwards, appeared to have a semi-automatic pistol in his waistband. The suspects, 18-year-old Thomas Hudson Taylor and 19-year-old Charles Wallace, were arrested yesterday and both charged with second-degree burglary. Corpus Christi joined Project Shield this past summer. Project Shield allows the police departmentÂ’s Cyber Intelligence Unit access to existing surveillance cameras located throughout the city of Mobile, and beyond, as well as training opportunities to work with partners in preventing crime and preparing for better crime deterrence techniques.
