Sep 2nd, 2016

In a two-week series of drug raids, the Mobile County Street Enforcement Narcotics Team (MCSENT) gets violent suspects off the streets and seizes large quantities of dangerous drugs.

On Aug. 22, 2016, MCSENT raided a motel room at the Taylor Motel located in midtown. Officers seized crystal methamphetamine and a gun from 29-year-old Anthony Singleton who was wanted for shooting a victim at another motel two nights prior. Singleton was arrested for possession of controlled substance and first-degree assault.

MCSENT officers then raided a residence in the 2500 block of Fairway Ave. The suspects attempted to flee in a vehicle from the residence and one was found hiding in the attic. Officers seized one ounce of crystal methamphetamine and an SKS assault rifle. Frank Brock, 49, Meghan Huggins, 23, and Clayton Brown, 35, were arrested.

Brock was arrested for possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Huggins was arrested for three felony warrants for probation violation. Brown was arrested for charges of felon in possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment. He led officers on a high-speed pursuit in which he threw crystal methamphetamine and several guns from a vehicle. Brown also faces federal firearms charges.

On Aug. 24, 2016, MCSENT with assistance from MPD SWAT and agents from Homeland Security Investigations raided a residence in the 800 block of Prichard Ave. This location was used as a drop-off point for crystal methamphetamine and a pickup point for cash by out of state drug traffickers. Officers seized one pound of crystal methamphetamine and $19,000 cash. Dione Petite, who is currently on federal probation, faces state charges of trafficking methamphetamine as well as federal drug charges.

On Sept. 1, 2016, MCSENT along with ATF and U.S. Marshals executed a sting operation in Tillman’s Corner. Officers seized four ounces of crystal methamphetamine, two ounces of cocaine, an ounce of Molly (a pure crystal form of MDMA which is the active ingredient in Ecstasy), a small amount of crack and heroin, and $2,000 cash. Palmer Mickles, 41, was arrested for federal drug charges and 66-year-old Cornelius Squalls was arrested for trafficking illegal drugs.
