TEXAS HILL/ OAKLEIGH DRUG SWEEP

On January 29, 2009 members of the Mobile Police Department's Gun Crimes, Intelligence, Narcotics and Vice, MCSENT, and HIDTA Details concluded a four months long investigation into illegal narcotics trafficking in the Texas Hill and Oakleigh residential areas located within the First Precinct. The original investigation began back in October 2008.

Pursuant to police undercover operative initiatives, suspects involved in street level narcotics trafficking were identified and felony warrants were issued for their arrest. Also, subsequent to the investigation, search warrants were obtained for four residences within the targeted area that were identified as illegal narcotic trafficking facilities.

Additionally, members of the Mobile Police Department's Tactical Response Unit and Jaguar Details assisted with the execution of search warrants on the target locations and apprehension of numerous individuals living within the target area.

The investigation resulted in the issuance of eight felony warrants for Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances on the following individuals:

1. Joshua Young 10/15/1978 (Two Counts)/ *Arrested*

2. April Thompson 3/26/1983 (Two Counts)/ *Arrested*

3. Gary Lucas 8/26/1978/ *Arrested*

The following individuals are still being pursued by investigators with active warrants for Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance:

1. Cedrick Mose 6/14/1983 *Still Active*

2. Dominick Lindsey 2/21/1989 *Still Active*

3. Rydarryian Dees 5/28/1980 *Still Active*

Search Warrants were executed at residences in the following areas:

800 block of Texas Street:

Police located two illegal guns (shotgun and handgun) inside the residence.

1100 Block of Selma Street:

Police located crack cocaine inside the residence and arrested Richard Jones 7/21/1986 for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

1000 block of New Jersey Street:

Police located a stolen .45 Caliber handgun and marijuana inside the residence and arrested Clayton Washington 7/12/1983 for Possession of Marijuana First Degree and Receiving Stolen Property Third Degree.

400 block of Charles Street:

Police located drug paraphernalia inside the residence and arrested David Jones 10/21/1962 for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
