The JaMarcus Russell Foundation to assist Mobile Police Explorers in Fulfilling Law Enforcement Community Service Hours During Thanksgiving Turkey Give-A-Way

On Saturday, November 21, 2009 the JaMarcus Russell Foundation will hold its Second Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Give-A-Way from 12:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the Taylor Recreational Park facility located at 1050 Baltimore Street. Mobile Police Department Explorers will also be on hand to assist with registration and assistance supplying the turkeys to various families.

Volunteers of this initiative will distribute 500 turkeys. The turkeys will be given to families that have completed the required pre-application process.

"We want to help families by providing a turkey for their Thanksgiving dinner," said Zina Anderson, mother of JaMarcus Russell. "We are pleased that the JaMarcus Russell Foundation can make this meaningful contribution to numerous families in Mobile."

The Mobile Police Department Explorers will participate in this effort which will fulfill required law enforcement community service hours. Each explorer is required to fulfill a minimum of 120 law enforcement community service hours.

The organizers of this event stated the turkeys will be given to one family member per household.

• Applicants must bring their receipt along with a valid driver's license and be 18 years of age to receive the free turkeys.


***JaMarcus Russell is a mobile native and former graduate and standout football star of Williamson High School. Russell went on to pursue his college education and football career at Louisiana State University. Following college; Russell was drafted into the National Football League by the Oakland Raiders where he currently plays the position of quarterback.
