Traffic Stop on Moffett Rd Leads to Narcotics Investigation

A routine traffic stop for driving with no headlights on has led to a narcotics investigation.

Patrol officers made the traffic stop at 11:46 p.m., March 9, 2016 near the Clark's Gas Station off Moffett Road. During questioning, 26-year-old Christopher Dyas put the vehicle in gear causing the officers to initiate a pursuit. Dyas and passenger Cedrick Tyler, 27, abandoned the vehicle in a parking lot off Howells Ferry Road, fleeing on foot.

Tyler was apprehended but Dyas has not been located.

From searching the vehicle, officers found a duffle bag on the back seat containing 2,897 grams of marijuana, 900 grams of codeine, 70 grams of cocaine, and $2,846 in U.S. currency. The marijuana has a street value of $10,000, and the cocaine has an approximate street value of $7,000.

Tyler was charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Trafficking Marijuana, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Eluding Police. Dyas currently has warrants for the same charges.
