Officer Involved Shooting

On July 26, 2010 at approximately 8:15 a.m. at the Days Inn located 180 West I-65 Service Road, Mobile Police were assisting Pinellas County, Florida in making contact with a suspect wanted for questioning in a homicide investigation. When officers made entry to the room, the wanted suspect was armed with a hatchet. Officers fired their weapons striking the suspect multiple times, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. An officer was injured during incident, and was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The Mobile Police Department Internal Affairs and Homicide Units will be conducting an investigation of the incident, and further details will be released after the conclusion of the investigation.
