On Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at approximately 11:13 p.m., Mobile police were dispatched to 5651 Renn Street in reference to a domestic-related call. Upon arrival, police learned the male subject had forced family members out of the residence at gunpoint and retreated back inside the residence.
The subject, identified as 41-year-old Donald Fulton, threatened to kill himself. SWAT was called to the scene and officers set up perimeter around the house. A hostage negotiator was able to calm Fulton to where he was no longer armed and officers made entry into the residence. Fulton then armed himself again and fired shots at the officers. Officers returned fire causing the death of Fulton.
No family members were harmed.
