PEDESTRIAN KILLED BY VEHICLE

On Sunday, November 2, 2008 at approximately 0200 hours, Mobile Police responded to St. Stephens Road and Laurel Street in reference to one struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, police discovered the victim William D. Brown Jr. (51), lying in the street. The 25 year old driver of the vehicle was waiting for police at the scene of the incident.

Police discovered that the driver of the vehicle was traveling westbound on St. Stephens Road when Brown walked north to south in front of his vehicle. The driver struck Brown with his vehicle, described as a blue Mercury Grand Marquis as he walked in its path. Brown was pronounced deceased on the scene. Police transported the driver of the vehicle to the University of South Alabama Medical Center to conduct a test to determine his blood alcohol content. No charges have been filed against the driver of the vehicle at this time.
