Police Arrest a Robbery Suspect

On April 30, 2010 at 1:00 PM Mobile Police received a call of a bank robbery at the Alabama Telco Credit Union located 809 Downtowner Boulevard. An alert officer in the area of the robbery observed a white Buick Century leave the scene and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver of the Buick lost control at Downtowner and Michael Boulevard striking a police car and another vehicle. 36 year old Charles Hines was taken into custody by officers.
Robbery Detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. Preliminary results of the investigation reveal the Charles Hines entered the bank armed with a short barreled rifle and demanded money from the teller. The teller compiled with his demands, and Hines was able to leave with the money. The money and weapon have been recovered by police. Charles Hines has been arrested and Charged with Robbery First Degree, and Possession of a short Barrel Rifle.
