Police Arrest a Woman That Targets Elderly Victims

Mobile Police arrested 55 year old Linda Joyce Scott for thefts she has committed against some elderly victims as far back as September 2008. Mobile Police with the help of the public were able to identify this woman, locate her and arrest her for three separate offenses.
Police discovered during the investigation that in September of 2008 Linda Scott was at the RBC Centura Bank on St Stephens Road and approached an 88 year old man that uses a walker. Scott then acted as if she was assisting him to his vehicle. After Scott left, the victim discovered that his money was missing from his shirt pocket. The investigation also revealed that in July 2009, Linda Scott approached an 83 year old woman at the Regions Bank on Dauphin Island Parkway. In this incident Scott bumped into the victim and Scott pretended to drop some coins on the ground, and when the victim assisted in picking up the coins, Scott reached in her purse and removed some money. The victim's purse was in her vehicle making this also a vehicle burglary. Finally Linda Scott was found to be responsible for following an 80 year old victim to the Regions Bank on Dauphin Island Parkway, to a Food World and cutting the victim's tires. Scott then offered the victim a ride home. When this victim arrived home, she noticed that her money was missing from her purse.
Mobile Police received several calls identifying Linda Scott after she was shown on the news. Detectives then contacted her and she turned herself into police. Linda Joyce Scott has been arrested and charged with two counts of Theft of Property First Degree, and Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle.
