POLICE CHIEF PHILLIP GARRETT TO ANNOUNCE RETIREMENT

After nearly 38 years of service to the City of Mobile; Police Chief Phillip Garrett will announce his retirement on today's date at a press conference scheduled to be held at 1:00 PM at Mobile Police Headquarters.
Chief Garrett began his career as a Police Cadet back in September of 1971. He rose through the ranks over the years and served in nearly every aspect of the police profession including Patrol, Internal Affairs, Crime Prevention, Community Services, and numerous other command positions. Mayor Sam Jones appointed him Police Chief in July of 2006.
Chief Garrett is well known for his commitment to a number of charitable endeavors with Camp Rap-A-Hope being at the top of the list. Chief Garrett's major accomplishments over more than three years of service as Chief Executive Officer are bringing the staffing of the department to unprecedented levels, the reduction of crime throughout the city, and a continuous increase in professionalism through expanded management and organizational goals.
