POLICE INVESTIGATE A HOMICIDE ON STANTON ROAD (UPDATE)

On May 29, 2009 at 6:49 PM Mobile Police received a call for shots fired on Stanton Road with possibly a man down. Upon officer's arrival, they discovered fifty-six year old Thornton Kitt with apparent gunshot wounds. Mr. Kitt was transported to USA Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. During the investigation detectives determined that three unknown possibly black males were seen running from the area shortly after the incident occurred.

On August 5, 2009, investigators were able to identify nineteen year old Isaiah Henderson as being responsible for the death of Thornton Kitt. Henderson was currently in jail for unrelated charges when detectives identified him and the additional Murder charge has been added. The investigation will continue to determine the identity of the other two men.
