Police Investigate a Traffic Fatality

On February 27, 2010 at 12:30 AM, Mobile Police responded to a report of a vehicle crash on Cody Road South and Bradbury Place. Upon the officer's arrival, they found a Chevrolet truck fully engulfed in flames and a BMW with serious damage.

The Mobile Police Traffic Accident Investigating Unit responded to the scene to begin the investigation. Preliminary findings of the investigation reveal the truck was traveling south on Cody Road and crossed into the north bound lanes. The truck then collided with the BMW. The driver of the Chevrolet truck has been identified as 28 year old Jamie Elmore, and Mr. Elmore was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger of the truck was a 29 year old male that suffered non-life threatening injuries, and he was transported to USA Medical Center for his injuries. The driver of the BMW was driven by a 44 year old female. This female had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to USA Medical Center by Life Flight with what was considered to be life threatening injuries. At this time alcohol is being considered as a contributing factor to the wreck.
