Police Investigate a Traffic Fatality at Dauphin Island Parkway and Old Military Road

On August 16, 2010 at 9:05 a.m. police responded to Dauphin Island Parkway at Old Military Road for a report of a traffic accident with injuries. Upon the officer's arrival, they discovered a green 1996 Chevrolet Silverado had collided with a Peterbuilt Vacuum Service Truck. Mobile Fire Department responded and pronounced a female dead at the scene. The 19 year driver of the Chevrolet truck was transported to the University of South Alabama with life threatening injuries.
Preliminary findings of the investigation revealed the deceased female passenger has been identified as 18 year old Diamond Harris of Mobile, and The Chevrolet truck was north bound on Dauphin Island Parkway when it collided with the Vacuum Service Truck. The 19 year old male driver of the Chevrolet Truck is currently listed in critical condition at USA Medical Center. The investigators have determined that the female passenger was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck, and alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the crash.
