Mar 20th, 2010

File Number: 10-03-3437

On March 20, 2010 at approximately 8:24 PM a patrol officer observed a suspicious vehicle traveling without headlights in the area of Dauphin Street and Upham Street. The officer then attempted to stop the vehicle, and the driver of the suspicious vehicle attempted to elude the officer. The officer continued to attempt to stop the vehicle, but then lost sight of the suspects. The officer, while traveling west on Old Shell Road, observed the vehicle had crashed at Old Shell Road and Cooley Street, and had struck a power pole and tree. The officer then observed one person had been ejected from the vehicle. Mobile Fire Department responded to the scene, and the man ejected from the vehicle was transported to USA Medical Center. Two people were discovered to have died in the vehicle crash.

Traffic Accident Investigators and the Internal Affairs Unit responded to the scene to begin the investigation. Investigators believe that speed is going to be a contributing factor to the crash.
