Police Investigate Homicide at Live Oak and Persimmon Street

On October 17, 2009 at approximately 9:00 PM, Mobile Police responded to a report of a traffic accident at the intersection of Live Oak Street and Persimmon Street. Preliminary investigation of the accident revealed that the victim 44 year old Anthony Encarnacion had wrecked his 2003 Saturn into the rear of a second vehicle causing substantial damage to both vehicles. Encarnacion was discovered unresponsive in the driver's seat of the vehicle and was immediately rushed to Mobile Infirmary Hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, it was discovered that Encarnacion had been shot multiple times with a small caliber handgun. Encarnacion was pronounced deceased at the hospital and homicide investigators were notified to investigate the incident.

Homicide Detectives began their investigation and developed the identity of a potential suspect identified as 18 year old Shawn Taylor whom resides in the area of the incident. On November 6, 2009, homicide investigators were able to locate suspect Shawn Taylor in the area of Lexington Avenue near Doctor Martin Luther King Avenue. Taylor was interviewed by detectives and subsequently transported to Metro Jail booked with one count of Murder.
