SHOOTING ON WOODLAWN DRIVE (UPDATE)

On Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at approximately 6:01 P.M., Mobile Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Woodlawn Drive South at Garden Park Estates in reference to a report of one shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a black male juvenile (14) had sustained a single gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to the University of South Alabama Medical Center by Mobile Fire/ Rescue Units where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Homicide Investigators responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. The investigation revealed that the victim was last seen with two other juvenile males just prior to the shooting. Those two juveniles were located and interviewed.

Investigators learned that the victim was accidentally shot by one of the juvenile suspects while playing with a handgun. The juvenile, (b/m, 15) was charged with Assault Second Degree and transported to Strickland Youth Center.
