The Mobile Police Department has named Stephanie Nelson as the Civilian Employee of the Month for November 2023. Nelson is assigned to the Impound Yard and assists with the monthly vehicle auctions. During the month of November, she took the initiative to determine if vehicles on hold could be eligible for auction.
Nelson requested to review vehicles files that were on investigative holds. During her review, she was able to identify 10 vehicles that had been on investigative holds for the Narcotics Unit. Seizure paperwork was found in the file. Nelson alerted the supervisor, which resulted in the Narcotics Unit applying for titles to move the vehicles to auction. One of the vehicles had been at the Impound Yard for over 11 years.
Nelson is also recognized for her willingness to work overtime due to a personnel shortage after the Thanksgiving holiday. She assisted in creating files, photographing and inventorying 50 vehicles.
