Update Mobile Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting

On Friday, August 21, 2015, at approximately 11:20 hours, officers responded to the 1000 block of Heidi Street for a report of Domestic Violence.

As officers approached the residence on foot, the suspect, 47 year old Ernest Marks, began firing at them with a semi-automatic handgun. The officers returned fire striking Marks in the left side of his chest and his left arm. Marks was transported to local hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries

While receiving medical attention Marks attempted to escape custody. On Wednesday, August 26, 2015, Marks was released from the hospital, transported to Headquarters' and interviewed. Marks was charged with Two Counts of Attempted Murder, Escape 3rd, Domestic Violence 3rd, and transported to Metro County Jail.
